2019 Audi e-tron : World Premiere

Audi’s all-new and first-ever electric SUV was unveiled Monday night at a World Premiere in San Francisco — and Audi went all out. An extraordinary venue hosted the unveiling of the 2019 Audi e-tron, with 3 available trim levels; Premium Plus, Edition One, and Prestige.

But before we get to that, we’d be remiss to not tell you about the 2-hour tour on the bay via the illustrious Hornblower ferry. Amazingly, well over 2,000 people from all around the globe mingled and took in the sights of San Francisco and a wonderful sunset as we made way our way to the Craneway Pavilion, the event venue where Audi welcomed us with an epic micro drone light show synced to music that eventually created 4 rings, Audi’s logo.

Abraham Schot, Temporary CEO of Audi AG, introduced the all-new Audi e-tron Quattro. He also announced that Audi expects to deliver 50 battery-electric vehicles by 2025. The e-tron seats 5 and comes with a 95 kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery. Audi is waiting for official numbers from the EPA, however a range of 200+ miles is expected with rapid charging to 80% in 30 minutes.

E-tron will have two electric motors, one on each axle for an all-wheel-drive system. 0 to 60mph in about 5.5 seconds with a top speed of 124mph.

Amazon has signed on with Audi, offering e-tron buyers the option of purchasing home charging systems. Similar to how Amazon eases the smart lock and home automation for customers, the process will be simple. Customers will have 3 options and the average cost will be about $1,000.

The all-new Audi e-tron will be in U.S. showrooms by mid-2019. It starts at a base price of $75,795. Buyers may be eligible for $7,500 in federal tax credits including some state and local incentives.

Although Audi never mentioned the word “Tesla,” the all-new e-tron is no doubt taking aim at Tesla’s Model X and from what we saw in the way of fit, finish and interior detail, Audi should have a real winner for buyers.
