Four Vacations You Can Actually Afford

NY NY VegasTired of being told the same “top” places to do your vacationing, partying, gambling, and drinking? We are sure if you wanted to hit up Las Vegas, New Orleans, or NYC, you would have done so by now. Listen, Mardi Gras is full of people puking everywhere. Burning Man is full of dirty hippies asking for shoes. And, let’s face it; you are never going to make it to Brazil for Carnival. So, scrape up a couple of hundred bucks and grab some buddies, you have a road-trip to plan! The spots below have been chosen due to the fact they are cheap, thus you can maximize your bar tab. So, without further delay, four ‘vacation’ spots you might actually go to.

1) Port Saint Joe, FL

Port St Joe FLPort St. Joe is consistently rated as having the best beaches in America. With miles of shoreline, golf, seafood, and charter fishing, you won’t be disappointed. Avoid Miami Beach and Orlando, and take your Florida vacation in Port St. Joe instead. Pro-tip: you can rent a house on the beach that sleeps 10 for about $1,000 a week. Grab nine of your buddies and all chip in $100, you can’t lose.

2) Lake Tahoe, NV

Lake TahoeSkip Vegas, go to Tahoe. There are so many bars, not to mention a huge lake, you would think you were in South Beach (not really, but you get the idea). With the beach in the summer, and skiing in the winter, you are covered year round. A room in a respectable hotel-casino will go for around $60 a night. Pro-tip: Tahoe is 6,000 feet up in the mountains, alcohol takes effect much faster.

3) Biloxi, MS

Biloxi MSYes, Hurricane Katrina was devastating, but that was over ten years ago. A lot of rebuilding has gone on since then. The numerous bars and casinos will have you up all night and drinking all day. A room in one “THE” best hotel is about $140 a night. Pro-tip: visit during Mardi Gras, this area has the oldest Mardi Gras parades in America. We’re also big fans of Cruisin’ the Coast in October.

4) Detroit, MI

Detroit MINo, that is not a typo. Do you think the home of Motown Muscle has forgotten how to party? In a town this broke, partying is all these people have left. With three major casinos, sporting venues like no other, affordable lavish hotels, and kick-ass bars, you won’t be disappointed. If you don’t like the Detroit scene, you can row your boat across the river and check out Ontario (Canadian bars, Canadian strippers). A room will go for around $100 a night. Pro-Tip: be sure to check out Greektown, Corktown, and a Tigers game.
