Market Pavilion Hotel – Charleston

Market-Pavilion-HotelCharleston’s Market Pavilion Hotel is located in the epicenter of Downtown, just minutes from the waterfront, tour guides, shopping and grand old homes. Set among some of Charleston’s most historical landmarks, the Market Pavilion offers decadent guest rooms, countless amenities, outstanding dining and nightlife.

Market-Pavilion-Hotel-King-RoomWe had the occasion to stay at the Market Pavilion Hotel on a recent Urban Adventure in the new 2014 Toyota Highlander. Unless you were to stay in a historic mansion along the battery, it’s tough to imagine staying anywhere that would convey the essence of Charleston more than this hotel.

It’s located directly adjacent to the Charleston City Market and across the street from the U.S. Custom House. The decor in this hotel was so southern, it looked like my Mother-in-law’s dream home, but it certainly led us to understand what they meant by “the Art of Southern Hospitality.”

Grill 225 in the lobby is home to the Nitrotini, a Martini cooled to -320 degrees with liquid nitrogen. Your glass will come with a warning label, and it’s mostly a gimmick, but it makes for a killer Instagram photo. The rooftop Pavilion Bar and pool provide amazing views of the city, although it was closed while we were in town due to weather. Combined they offer a large enough menu that you would be tempted to just camp out at the hotel for days.

Market-Pavilion-Hotel-Roof-PoolThis clearly isn’t the type of place you’d book for a weekend of fun with your buddies, but Charleston isn’t really that type of city either. It is however the perfect destination for a romantic weekend with your woman, and that can be fun sometimes too, right?
