MLB Wears Camo for Memorial Day

Orioles-Memorial-DayAll 30 teams in Major League Baseball will take a page out of the San Diego Padres’ book and wear Camouflage Jerseys in honor of Memorial Day. This is just one piece of what MLB and it’s member teams are doing to honor fallen soldiers this Memorial Day, but it will probably be the most visible.

The numbers and lettering on each team’s jersey will be in a camouflage design, and many will be auctioned off to support Veterans following the game :

Players will wear special digital-camouflage jerseys and caps licensed by the U.S. Marine Corps, raising awareness and funds for Welcome Back Veterans.

Memorial-Collection100% of MLB’s proceeds from the special jerseys (for sale on MLB.com) will be donated to Welcome Back Veterans, a charity that helps provide grants to hospitals so that veterans suffering from PTSD and traumatic brain injuries can receive treatment.

Teams have worn camouflage-themed hats in the past, and the Padres have a camo-heavy jersey in honor of the Military population of San Diego that they wear often, but in recent years MLB has made it tradition to have the entire league adorn camo-themed unis for Memorial Day.
