National Liqueur Day with Midori

Apple FizzToday, Friday, October 16th is National Liqueur Day. A day truly worth celebrating if you love tasty, flavored drinks. Most of the time, we use liqueurs as mixers with spirited alcohol, but sometimes these drinks can be the star of the cocktail all on their own.

One of our favorites is Midori, a Japanese liqueur whose name means “green” and whose flavors are very unusual; all with a Japanese twist. So grab a bottle of Midori Melon Liqueur and lets get mixing.

Midtown Muse

21_MidtownMuseThe Midori Midtown Muse is a simple, more traditional cocktail with a fruity, almost nutty flavor. Pour the following over rocks in a glass and then strain into a pre-chilled cocktail glass and garnish with a lemon twist.

Ingredients

  • 2/3 part Midori Melon Liqueur
  • 1 1/2 parts Yamazaki 12-year Old Whiskey
  • 1/3 part DeKuyper Vanilla Liqueur
  • Dash of Bitters

Melon Ball

  • 1 Part Pinnacle vodka
  • Orange Juice to finish

La Pomme

Apple Fizz

main_50This is the simplest of our cocktails, requiring only that you pour the ingredients into a highball with ice and stir. It does have a kick and is the sweetest of our drinks, but is oh so smooth. Use the soda water to regulate the drink’s heaviness, watering it down as needed.

Ingredients

  • 1 part Midori Melon Liqueur
  • 1 part Sauza Blue Silver Agave Tequila
  • 1 part cloudy apple juice
  • 1/2 part lemon juice
  • 1/2 part simple syrup
  • Splash of soda water
