Otakon 2012 Cosplay Gallery

Otakon Cosplay 001 560x267Otakon 2012 was held this past weekend in Baltimore, and featured some awesome Cosplay. What the hell is Otakon?

Otakon is the convention of the otaku generation: by fans, for fans; and we’re back for our 19th year in 2012! Join thousands of your fellow fans as we descend on Baltimore to celebrate all anime, manga, and all facets of Asian pop culture!

It’s one of the longest running anime conventions in the United States, and likely topped 30,000 attendees this year. Like many other similar conferences, it tends to attract it’s fair share of Cosplay. Also like those other conferences, the Cosplay isn’t always directly related to the conference either, with random characters showing up from all areas of pop-culture.

As Cosplay tends to be, these photos (collected from around the web) range from sexy or awesome to puzzling or disturbing. I feel pretty good about myself for the fact that I can only identify probably 1/3 of the subject matter in these images. See if you can out-geek me, and identify many more:
