Pop-up Business with GoPayment

The video is fairly self-explanatory, but in case you haven’t hit play yet, it’s about a couple of guys and their Pop-up Barbershop at SXSW. Intuit selected these guys and their small business based in Austin, to help them exhibit their mobile payment platform, GoPayment. They are the proprietors of Birds Barbershop, a re-imagined version of the barbershop with four brick-and-mortar locations in Austin, where they serve beer along with your haircut.

The concept of the stunt is that a GoPayment mobile credit card reader and app from Intuit allowed them to bring their business to the streets. We’ll just ignore the fact that much of their equipment probably required power, it’s still a cool concept. Hell, we’ve seen small businesses using mobile payment systems in brick-and-mortar locations just because its cheaper and easier for them than traditional methods.
