Spectator Wins $5000 After Unbelievable Cricket Crowd Catch

A cricket fan in New Zealand has gone home $5,000 richer after pulling off a spectacular one-handed catch.

Andrew McCulloch was enjoying the Twenty20 match between Otago Volts and Wellington Firebirds with his girlfriend when he saw batsman Michael Bracewell (coincidentally Andrew’s girlfriend’s brother) hit a ball high into the air, the video below shows what happened next.

Impressive, right? A sliding, no-shoed, one-handed catch. The catch has won Andrew $5,000 thanks to a promotional offer from a sponsor which gave any spectator who catches a ball five grand.

When asked what he will spend his winnings on, Andrew “paying off debts”.
