Spring is finally here, which means it’s time to break out the lawn equipment and get our yards back into shape. For many of us, this ritual includes checking to see if our two-stroke engine tools are still in working order after being stored for the winter. While we absolutely despise mixing oil with gas and hoping that we have the ratio exactly right, there is a bigger issue plaguing the small engines; ethanol. Using gas straight from the pump means you are essentially putting alcohol into your tools, which can wreak havoc with the plastic, rubber, and even metal parts of your yard equipment.

Thankfully there is now a smarter way to keep your equipment running at peak performance. It may cost a little more up front, but in the long run it definitely pays for itself when you can keep your tools working properly.

TRUFUEL® is precision-engineered premixed fuel with synthetic lubricants and advanced stabilizers that are specially made for your 2-cycle and 4-cycle outdoor power equipment. The high-octane ethanol-free fuel protects your investment, saves you time, and helps your equipment run the way you need it to. It is premixed, so there is no need to bother with the measuring and mixing of fuel and oil. Not to mention, TRUFUEL® has a shelf life of 5 years and will not separate and damage your equipment during off seasons.

Trufuel-4We found TRUFUEL® at our local hardware store, and noticed it came in three varieties, clearly labeled. Consult the documentation for your equipment to figure out which fuel you need. Better yet, when you buy your yard tools, we recommend trying to stick with one ratio, so you never get confused. In our case we were working with a chainsaw, blower, trimmer, and tiller; all of which required the 50:1 mix of fuel to oil. We grabbed a couple of cans and were ready to go, but you can also pickup a six-pack at a discount.

Trufuel-2In the past this is about the time we’d take a trip to the gas station and try not to spill while filling up that red container from the pump. Then we’d get home and have to break out the funnel, and start mixing up a magical concoction to fill up our tools. Sure, it was relatively cheap, and it mostly got the job done, assuming we did it properly. However it was also a pain in the ass, and our time is worth more than fuel. It’s not just time we saved by using TRUFUEL® this year, it’s our equipment too.

Trufuel-1So now when it’s time to cut some wood, we know our chainsaw will be performing optimally. We’re also not worried about leaving it full of fuel for months at a time between jobs, because we know that TRUFUEL® won’t break down and damage the engine.
