The driving editorial force here at Gunaxin are children of the 80s. That might make us old in terms of the Internet, but we grew up in the golden age of fantasy movies. Classics like The Princess Bride, Willow and Labyrinth were born during that decade, and we’ve covered them fairly extensively over the years.

Today we’re happy to present a video look at Tom Fonss’ Top Ten Fantasy Movies from that era. The list leads off with Dragonslayer, so get pumped for some cheesy sword play, not-so-scary sorcery and oh yeah, David Bowie in ridiculously tight spandex pants. It’s gonna be awesome!

The Neverending Story is probably a bit low on the list for our taste, but overall it’s a solid collection. One could always make arguments for some notable ommissions, like Krull, Highlander, and The Beastmaster. Other 80s classics bordered on Fantasy, so its debatable whether they should be included, like Goonies, Gremlins, Beetlejuice, Ghostbusters, and even Indiana Jones. However we know how tough it is to limit a list like this at ten, so we’ll cut them some slack.
