Toyota Unveils Special Edition Vehicles at 2018 Texas State Fair
Unlike most manufacturers at the 2018 Texas State Fair situated on, in and around the impressive art decor icon that is Fair Park, Toyota didn’t hide their big 2019 reveals.
There were no black tarps dramatically whisked away during the 11:15am Texas State Fair media day press conference in which the specs of the slick Nightshade edition of 4Runner were shared, the sheen of Tundra SX in glittering Barcelona Red impressed beneath the near mid-day sun, and the affordable Tacoma SX Package turned heads.
Here’s a look at the three 2019 Toyota trucks unveiled at the 2018 Texas State Fair.
Toyota 4Runner Nightshade Special Edition
At times, this 4Runner looks impossibly dark and brooding, a real imposing beast of a Toyota ride, but down a neighborhood street on a lazy Sunday afternoon, the 2019 4Runner Nightshade is simply a classy truck giving off a kind of elegance that might surprise onlookers.
The 2019 Toyota 4Runner Nightshade Special Edition is available in limited 4×2 or 4×4. For $1,740 on top of MSRP you can have the 2019 Toyota 4Runner Nightshade in Midnight Black Metallic, Magnetic Gray Metallic or Blizzard Pearl, each with a whole lot of black accents:
- 20-inch black wheels
- Black Front & Rear Bumper Spoilers
- Black Outer Mirror
- Black Door Handles
- Black Window Moldings
- Black Rocker Panels
- Black Interior Trim (steering wheel, center cluster, shift knob, door grips)
- Chrome Read-Door Trim
…and a snazzy jet black exhaust pipe complete with the Toyota logo embossed in black.
2019 Toyota Tundra SX
The 2019 Toyota Tundra SX can be customized to suit your needs. The SR5 grade Double Cab is available in 4×2 or 4×4 and powered by a 5.7-liter i-FORCE V8 engine — this 2019 Tundra SX is tough as nails but is also distinctively fresh in its clean, cool look with colors like Barcelona Red and blacked-out wheels.
The exterior is streamlined with no badging and color-keyed front grille, bumper end caps, and rear bumper present a uniform appearance. The 2019 Tundra SX has upgraded front bucket seats and 18-inch black alloy wheels. The SX package 2019 Toyota Tundra can be had in Barcelona Red Metallic (shown below), Super White or Midnight Black Metallic and costs $1,630 above MSRP.
2019 Toyota Tacoma SX
The SX package is based on the Tacoma SR grade and is available on 4×2 and 4x4s, going all black on the high-visibility parts like the badging, headlamps, overfenders, mirror caps, front grille, and door handles. There’s also the unmissable matte black alloy 16-inch wheels.
Tacoma buyers on a budget can swing the SX Package for just $560 and get it in 6 colors: Super White, Silver Metallic, Magnetic Gray Metallic, Barcelona Red, Quicksand.
Toyota’s 36-month/36,000-mile basic new-vehicle warranty applies to all components other than normal wear and maintenance items, while an additional 60-month warranty covers the powertrain for 60,000 miles and corrosion with no mileage limitation. The 4Runner also comes with ToyotaCare standard. This is a complimentary plan covering normal factory=scheduled maintenance and 24-hour roadside assistance for two years or 25,000 miles, whichever comes first.
