Yeti Imperial Stout

Yeti Imperial Stout

Great Divide Brewing Company

Information :

An onslaught of the senses. It starts with big, roasty malt flavor that gives way to rich caramel and toffee notes. YETI gets its bold hop character from an enormous quantity of American hops. It weighs in at a hefty 75 IBUs.  9.5% ABV

A normal Friday afternoon after leaving the office is strolling around the local Spec’s Liquor trying my damnedest to try a beer I haven’t tried before. Thankfully, there’s enough beer out there that I don’t have too much trouble finding something.

I came across Yeti Imperial Stout per the recommendation of a friend. It isn’t sold in your usual four or six packs (at least not at my location), but in a 22 oz “It’ll get ya drunk!” bottle. Packing 9.50% alcohol by volume, it can get a lightweight where they’re trying to go and fast. Thankfully, I’m an Irishman so it wasn’t a problem.

It pours very dark with a brown head and has a very smokey flavor that lovers of stouts and porters would really enjoy. Thankfully, that’s my brand and I really enjoyed it. Especially when followed by some Victory Storm King like I had right afterwords (That review is coming soon).

Certainly not for everybody, I’d recommend Yeti to any porter lover looking to go a little thicker than usual.

Rating: 3 & 1/2 out of 5

While quite delicious, I don’t see myself ever buying this one again personally. Lots more options out there that provide better bang for your buck. Certainly worth trying once and I wouldn’t turn it down if someone else was sharing. It just won’t be making my normal rotation.
